I believe that when a person is in contact with themselves, with their values and talents – they can create meaning, not only for themselves but also for others!
Introduce yourself in a few words..
My name is
Lyudmila Romanova and I have been working in the field of human resources for over 15 years.
I am excited about topics such as job satisfaction, personal development, and
the psychology of choice. I believe that when a person is in contact with themselves, with
their values and talents – they can create meaning, not only for themselves but also for
others.
How would you define a personal brand and why is it so important today?
A personal brand is the sum of how we are, what we
stand for, and what we leave behind in the minds of people. Today it is
important because it brings clarity, value, and recognition in a world where
authenticity and trust are the strongest currency.
How did you start building your personal brand? What motivates you?
I started it intuitively – by sharing experiences, knowledge, and topics
that deeply excite me. I am motivated by the desire to be helpful, to provide
value, and to encourage people to listen to themselves. I believe that when
you speak from the heart, people feel it.
What are the most important elements of a successful personal brand?
Clear value, consistency, empathy, and authenticity. People do not
connect with perfection – they connect with humanity. And when this humanity is
combined with expertise and a personal mission, it becomes a force.
How to find your niche and unique value?
By starting from within – with an honest look at what excites us, in what we are good, and how we could be helpful. The niche opens up where our authenticity meets the needs of others.
Should the personal brand be built around personality or around expertise?
In my opinion – around the personality that carries
expertise. People connect with people, not with diplomas. Expertise is important, but
it is our approach, our values, and communication style that make the brand
“personal”.
What first steps would you recommend to someone who is just starting?
To give themselves time for self-exploration and to start – even with small, but consistent steps. To be honest in their messages and not to wait for the “perfect” moment – it rarely comes.
What platforms are most suitable for developing a personal brand today?
It depends on
the audience and style – LinkedIn is great for a professional context, Instagram –
for visual and inspiring messages, and a blog or podcast – for more in-depth
topics. The best platform is the one where you can be yourself.
What role does authenticity play in the personal brand and how do we maintain it?
Authenticity is the heart of the personal brand. We maintain it,
by not playing roles, not blindly following trends, and not constantly comparing
ourselves. When we speak from experience and conviction, authenticity naturally stays with us.
How to create content that engages and builds trust?
By starting from the needs of people, but speaking with
our own voice. Stories from personal experience, advice we would give to a friend,
and messages that are lived – this is content that touches and remains.
What are the most common mistakes people make when building a personal brand?
Trying to imitate someone else,
lack of consistency, and fear of being honest. A brand is not built with
templates – it is built with honesty, persistence, and a clear direction.
How to deal with negative comments and criticism?
With healthy distance. Not every opinion is important. It is important to know
who we are and why we do what we do. Constructive criticism can be
helpful – the rest is just noise.
How to avoid burnout when investing a lot of effort in your personal brand?
By not forgetting ourselves in the process.
Time for rest, boundaries, and regular reminders of why we started – these are
important elements. A sustainable brand is not built with exhaustion, but with awareness.
How can a strong personal brand lead to more opportunities (jobs, partnerships, clients)?
A strong personal brand
builds trust. And trust opens doors – for new projects, partnerships,
clients, or even friendships. People choose people they believe in.
What are the best ways to monetize the personal brand?
When you have created value and trust, opportunities naturally come – whether
through consultations, online products, training, or partnerships. The key is to give first, before asking.
When is the right time to start offering paid services or products?
When we have clarity about what value
we bring, when we have built a connection with our audience, and when we are ready to
offer something we truly believe will be helpful.
How to maintain sustainability and long-term growth of the personal brand?
With persistence, a clear mission, and the ability to adapt. To
listen to people, but also to ourselves. To grow without losing our roots.
Sustainability is not a quick success, but deep meaning.
What habits and discipline are needed for building authority?
Consistency in actions, authenticity in expression, and
the willingness to continue, even when there are no quick results. Authority comes with
time – when people know they can rely on you.
Which personalities with a successful personal brand inspire you and why?
I am inspired by people who combine expertise with humanity – personalities who speak with depth, but also with vulnerability. Leaders who have gone through
all levels of hierarchy, who are not afraid to admit their mistakes and stand behind their name / brand with their heads held high.
What three specific things can people do today to improve their personal brand?
1. To clearly define their values and
message.
2. To start sharing experiences, ideas, or
knowledge – even with small steps.
3. To be authentic – not perfect, but
real.
