Introduce yourself in a few words..

My name is Radi Georgiev, and I have been working in communication and media for over two decades. In recent years, quite actively and with film distribution. I am the manager of a distribution company, a partner in PR Studio, and I am one of the founders of Sofia Summer Fest, the summer festival of Sofia. And in 2021, my first novel "The Internship" was published.

What does traveling the world mean to you?

A way to recharge your batteries, to rest and enjoy different cultures, and of course to eat delicious and diverse food.

How many different countries have you seen so far? Share an interesting story or highlights from your travels?

I haven't bothered to count them, and I don't think the quantity matters. In recent years, my girlfriend and I mainly travel to see concerts of favorite bands and music festivals. Last year we were at  Nova Rock, we traveled to the USA. This year we have concerts of  Justin Timberlake in Milan, Oasis in London, the rock festival HellFest and again a trip to the USA, this time to New York, and my daughter, who can't wait, will be with us.

Do you like to repeat destinations? Give examples and motivation "for" or "against"?

We are big fans of Italy, and whenever we have the chance, we always go back there. I am always for repeating the beautiful places. For 2026, we have already bought tickets for Metallica in Bologna.

What was your first trip that truly changed you as a professional and can be said to have changed your thinking?

America truly changed me. I left as a student on summer brigades and worked at a golf club. The beginning was as a so-called busboy, or a jack-of-all-trades, mainly for cleaning tables. After two summers there, they offered to assist me with a work visa and to return as the manager of a part of the club, which for a 21-year-old was a huge recognition and responsibility. My then-boss Jeff was the first to believe in me and did the impossible to get me a work visa, which was incredibly difficult back then. After that, I lived and worked for two years. In the summer, I was in New York, and in the winter in Florida.

What do you learn about yourself and your professional skills when you are in a new cultural environment?

I learn that I actually know nothing.

Have you met people or ideas during your travels that have influenced your career path?

During my travels, I always steal ideas for projects or for the festivals we work on. And meeting new people, no matter how you meet them, inevitably influences.

Do you think that traveling helps you expand your professional network? How?

When it’s work-related travel, absolutely. For example, two years ago I was at the London Book Fair, around my book, and I had the opportunity to meet and talk with numerous agents and representatives of various publications from around the world. You realize how serious the book business is. This year we will go to the rock festival HellFest, and we work for Midalidare Rock In The Wine Valley, and such a trip and meetings on site will definitely help us develop the local festival.

What skills do you develop the most when you travel, and how do they affect your work path?

Without a doubt, you develop communication skills on the road without even realizing it, because you have to communicate with different people and not in your native language. We love to develop our tasting skills – wine and food.

Is there a city or country that has inspired you to start a new business or project?

A specific business or project, no, but the most inspiring city I have been to is New York, I can't wait to visit it again this year.

When you are in an unfamiliar country, do you feel more motivated or more distracted? Why?

Whenever I am on the road and have to do some work from there, it somehow goes easier, so in that sense, I am more motivated. Also, if there is some crisis that needs to be resolved from a distance, problems always seem smaller and are resolved more easily.

Are there destinations that act as a "restart" for your creativity and ambition?

Our trip at the end of last year to Los Angelis and the area there was exactly something like that. We traveled over 5000 kilometers by car, saw amazing places and people. The ambition is to be able to do such trips more often.

How do you manage the balance between work and pleasure, when you travel?

For many years, my work has been a pleasure, and I do things I like, that recharge me, so in that sense, whether I travel or rest, I don't need a balance. I believe that when a person finds something he loves and turns it into a way to make money, he will never have to work and seek balance.

How have travels changed the way you perceive the value of money?

Traveling has rather solidified my perception of money. I have never worked or done anything for the sake of money or for the salary I would receive at the end of the week or month. I see money as a means, as something you will receive at a given moment, but it has never been my goal. My goal is to do the things I like and love, and money is a consequence of those activities.

Do you travel to find new ways to earn money?

Of course, I have been to seminars, trainings. Always places where you learn new things, understand how you can develop, which certainly influences money as well.

What lessons about financial independence have you learned from different economies and cultures?

I have never been good at calculations and have not learned to do them. What I have managed to learn over the years is not to spend more than you have and to be careful with credit cards, because they can be incredibly convenient, but at the end of the day, you are spending money that isn't yours.

According to you, is it better to spend on experiences rather than on material possessions?

Experiences are irreplaceable. No material possession can compare to a nice trip.

How do you see the future of digital nomad life?

Better and better. I work best from our caravan at the sea in the summer, and our office in Sofia looks like a café, and almost every day different people come in thinking they can order coffee. I believe that the classic office environment will increasingly vanish.

Are there specific countries that are more favorable for work and investments?

Work and investments are done by people, so what matters are not the countries in which they happen, but the people who make them happen. In Bulgaria, there are many opportunities for business and investments, but it requires intuition and, of course, some risk.

If you could choose one place in the world to develop your next big idea, what would it be and why?

My girlfriend and I have a dream to live in Italy, whether for a little or for a longer time. For now, we don't have a big idea to develop there, but you never know how things will turn out.

Find something you like, turn it into a profession, and you will never have to work.
