Introduce yourself in a few words..

My name is Lyudmila Romanova and I have been working in the field of human resources for over 15 years. I am excited about topics such as job satisfaction, personal development, and the psychology of choice. I believe that when a person is in contact with themselves, their values, and their talent – they can create meaning not only for themselves but also for others.

What does traveling the world mean to you?

Wealth – the opportunity not only to see new places and cultures but also to discover new corners within yourself. Every contact with something different expands our worldview and brings us closer to understanding the world and the people in it.

How many different countries have you seen so far?

Tell us an interesting story or highlights from your travels? I have mainly traveled in Europe, and five years of my life were spent in Prague – a city I often return to and always rediscover. The most interesting stories usually arise spontaneously – for example, when I met friends from Sofia completely by chance in the tourist center of Vienna and we had that cup of coffee that we never managed to have back in our city.

Do you like to repeat destinations?

Give examples and motivation “for” or “against”? Definitely. I believe that places bring us back to certain feelings and emotions. Sometimes you don’t travel to discover something new, but to relive something valuable.

What was your first trip that truly changed you as a professional and can be said to have changed your thinking?

A business trip to London – it showed me how business happens on an international level and what it means to work with high standards, clear processes, and a global vision. This experience gave a new perspective to my professional path.

What do you learn about yourself and your professional skills when you are in a new cultural environment?

I increasingly appreciate how capable and adaptable we Bulgarians are. We work quickly, flexibly, and are used to finding solutions. Sometimes processes abroad slow down simply because no one wants to do anything “outside their own”.

Have you met people or ideas during your travels that have influenced your career path?

Almost every trip. Sometimes inspiration comes from the simplest gesture – the smile of a receptionist, the attention of a stranger. The true value often lies in the small human interactions.

Do you think that traveling helps you expand your professional network? How?

Yes, definitely. Every new meeting is a potential opportunity for exchanging ideas, knowledge, or future collaboration.

What skills do you develop the most when you travel, and how do they reflect on your work?

Tolerance, patience, and the ability to communicate without expectations. These qualities directly transfer to the way I work with people.

Is there a city or country that has inspired you to start a new business or project?

Not specifically for a project, but there are countries that inspire with their rhythm of life – with the balance they create between work and personal time. This is an example I try to follow more often.

When you are in an unfamiliar country, do you feel more motivated or more distracted? Why?

I rather feel grateful that I have the opportunity to be there. I am always curious to learn something new, to feel the culture, and to see how people live. It energizes me!

Are there destinations that act as a “restart” for your creativity and ambition?

European capitals – a combination of history, culture, and modern dynamics. There is always something that inspires you to take a step forward.

How do you manage the balance between work and pleasure when you travel?

I try, even on business trips, to steal some time – for coffee in a local establishment, a walk, or trying something new. And when it’s vacation – I completely disconnect and enjoy the moment.

How have travels changed the way you perceive the value of money?

 I wouldn’t say they have changed it, but they have reminded me how much an experience is worth compared to any object.

Do you travel with the aim of finding new ways to earn money?

Not at least at this stage, I haven’t had to travel for that reason.

What lessons about financial independence have you learned from different economies and cultures?

That it is wise to have several sources of income. Flexibility and the ability to do more than one thing turn out to be key in different economies.

Do you think it is better to spend on experiences rather than material possessions?

Absolutely. Experiences build us, enrich us, and remain forever. Things only bring temporary pleasure!

How do you see the future of digital nomad life?

More dynamic and desired. People no longer want to wait for vacation to see the world – they want to live it while they work. And this will become increasingly accessible.

Are there specific countries that are more favorable for work and investments?

There is no universal answer. Each country has its advantages – it depends on what you are looking for, in what environment you feel productive, and what your goals are.

If you could choose one place in the world to develop your next big idea, where would it be and why?

I would choose Bulgaria – there is huge potential here, as long as we see it and believe in it. If we talk about abroad – probably Greece. It’s close, familiar, and has a lot to offer in terms of business opportunities, especially related to tourism.

Anywhere your heart dreams of. Everyone carries a different dream, and the world is big enough to fulfill it.
