Introduce yourself in a few words..
My name is Virginia Kalcheva and I am the manager of marketing and sales for two of the most preferred hotels in the center of Sofia – Rosslyn Central Park Hotel Sofia and Rosslyn Thracia Hotel Sofia. My main focus is on organizing events – both corporate and social, including weddings and boutique dinners and cocktails. My work is extremely dynamic and creative – related to people, experiences, and attention to every detail.
Tell us about the philosophy and values of the company you are currently working for?
Our philosophy places the guest at the center of every action. We believe that quality service is not limited to well-delivered service – it includes emotion, attention, and attitude.
Both of our hotels strive for high quality, sustainable development, innovative technologies, and individual attention to each guest. For us, these are the elements that guarantee an unforgettable experience.
How long have you been working in the current company? What are the main motivating factors that keep you there?
I have been working in the hotel industry for over 13 years and have been part of the team at #Rosslyn Hotels for almost 2 years. I am kept by the challenges, the opportunity to create experiences, the supportive environment, and an incredible team, as well as the feeling that I am part of something valuable.
If you had to recommend the company to your acquaintances or friends, what would you share with them to attract their attention?
I would tell them that here they will find not just a job, but a team where they will feel accepted and valued. The hotels are modern, the professional environment is stable, and the opportunities for personal development are real. This is a place where you can be proud of what you do.
What does your company do to organize a constructive and fruitful working environment for everyone? Should we be friends with our colleagues?
Our work culture is based on openness, respect, and flexibility. It is not necessary to be best friends with your colleagues, but it is important to support each other, communicate effectively, and trust each other. This creates stability and a good atmosphere, from which we all benefit.
Tell us a little more about your responsibilities in the company? What makes you enjoy going to work? How do you handle difficult and stressful moments?
I am involved in the overall organization of events – from concept to implementation. At Rosslyn Central Park Hotel Sofia, I mainly work in our modern conference center, which offers ideal conditions for business forums, presentations, and seminars, but also for any personal occasions and celebrations. #Rosslyn Thracia Hotel Sofia has a unique place – #R Garden & Bar, where we create boutique wine tastings and themed events that combine taste, atmosphere, and experience. What energizes and motivates me is the opportunity to see the real result of my work – satisfied guests and successfully executed events. When difficulties and stressful situations arise, I rely entirely on my experience and the strong team around me.
What work model does your company adhere to – office or remote? What are the advantages in your specific case and position?
The hotel business is closely related to being present on-site – meetings, inspections, events, and guests. For my position, physical presence is important and I like that, as I am in direct contact with the team and clients, which facilitates coordination and allows me to apply maximum flexibility and respond promptly.
What have you managed to seriously upgrade in your work over time in this company?
I have upgraded my skills in event management, working with people, and handling stressful situations. I have learned to think quickly, organize complex processes, and deal with unexpected challenges. At the same time, getting to know the new technologies that are increasingly entering our work has made me even more effective.
How important is hierarchy and what does it mean to you?
Hierarchy is necessary, but it should be flexible. For me, the most important thing is good communication between different levels – from management to operational teams. A truly good leader is one who is with their people, not above them, but each side must show consideration and adapt to the circumstances.
What is your career advice for all people building a strategy for their professional development?
Be consistent, hold on to your principles, and don't be afraid to start over if necessary. Pay attention to the environment in which you work – it is key to your development. And don't forget that every meeting and every experience can be a step in the right direction towards achieving your goals.
