If everyone follows the moral laws of life, they can be even more successful!
Introduce yourself in a few words…
Gergana Nikolaeva is an exceptionally unconventional opera singer. She defines herself as a contemporary person of art, for whom there are no boundaries. Gergana is the creator of the author project “Anyone can sing…”.
For five years now, she has successfully gathered music lovers who, going through her training, turn their lives into a beautiful song! She proves that music heals and unites.
Ten years ago, Gergana became known to the Bulgarian audience with a very interesting meeting of styles, realized in her album “Pop Music and Classics”. This was the first successful crossover of its kind in Bulgaria. Together with composer and producer Georgi Krasimirov – Gerasim, Gergana made duets with the most beautiful voices in Bulgarian pop music – Orlin Goranov, Silvia Katzarova, Ditcho, Toni, Leo, and Kamen Vodenicharov.
Two years ago, Gergana became part of the team of the Stara Zagora Opera with her role as Fleur de Lis, partnering with Mihaela Fileva in “Esmeralda – The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.
Gergana Nikolaeva is a lecturer on the American platform TEDTalks, where in 15 minutes she manages to make 400 people sing and cry with emotions with her lecture “Anyone can sing…”.
She is also a finalist in the baroque competition “Ritorna Vincitor” in Herculaneum, Italy.
How would you define personal branding and why is it so important today?
Personal branding is like a story told, with which you want to inspire a large audience. It is always important to have a clear message and your own style, so that the meaning and direction can be felt.
When we talk about a brand related to art, it is quite more difficult, as we live in a consumer world. People want to touch to believe. And art can only be felt. This makes things more complicated. But, as we all know, it is precisely we – the creators – who are at the core of the prosperity of every society, illuminating spiritual values and educating. We do not give up easily.
How did you start building your personal brand? What motivates you?
Everything started five years ago when one morning I woke up and, drinking coffee, the strong dream I had during the night flooded my mind. And since I am a person of action, I immediately set it in motion. Thus, in 2020, I made the first season of the format “Anyone can sing… with Gergana Nikolaeva”. It went extremely well, and I realized that I have the power to influence people positively through music.
Behind my motto lies much more than that everyone can sing. In fact, this training for the participants is a period in which they pause their stressful lives to take time and turn to the child within themselves. To seek the lost faith that we are capable of anything, to discover the key to a long-locked door, to overcome fears, to arrange lost pieces of their life puzzle, to believe that they are the stars of their lives.
And when the month-long training is over and all these brave people get on stage and manage to overcome the difficulties of stage presence, then they return to their initial settings – unburdened by the complexity of the time we live in.
It is very powerful to see that you have inspired such inspiration and change in a group of people. This motivates me and gives me the courage to continue.
What are the most important elements of a successful personal brand?
My experience shows that patience is at the core of achieving the set goal. Of course, when we add faith, hard work, and inspiration, things head in the right direction.
How to find your niche and unique value?
In my opinion, everyone has their unique role in this life. And the important thing is to find it. The more we listen to our inner voice, the closer we are to our true path.
We, the people of art, are very sensitive and often connect with those important invisible feelings that hint whether we are moving in the right direction. I believe that the problem with many people is that, holding tightly to the material world, they neglect their feelings from the spiritual, and their decisions are based solely on well-calculated analyses.
And to be unique, we must also use the database of our inner knowledge and wealth that each of us carries.
What role does authenticity play in personal branding and how to maintain it?
Of course, we are all influenced by the trends of the new time. But I believe that the more natural we are in offering a given product, the more accessible we become. The more different we are, the more interesting we are.
As we all know – a good idea is at the core of a good brand. And for a good idea to be born, we need inspiration.
How to avoid burnout when investing a lot of effort in your personal brand?
This is quite an important topic. In our time, it is a leitmotif in all areas of life. The main question we should always seek an answer to – and that before we cross a certain line – is: how should we maintain balance?
When every action of ours is synchronized with predetermined parameters, we can avoid unnecessary overload. And we should remember how important the law of giving and receiving is. I believe that then things will work out in the right way.
How can a strong personal brand lead to more opportunities (jobs, partnerships, clients)?
From my accumulated experience so far, I have realized that there are no coincidences – everything is energy. I believe that if you find yourself at the right moment, in the right place, with the right people, you can turn a given brand into a global entity.
There is nothing random! And also – if you invest that energy necessary to realize your dreams, you can make your brand a significant reality.
What are the best ways to monetize your personal brand?
This is a difficult question for a person of art. Haha... But, of course, it is important. With my entire team, we act in the usual ways. It is important to have a presence in all media and social networks. This makes us even more recognizable and consequently leads to good financial results.
“Anyone can sing…” has become a community. It preserves the knowledge that is not for everyone. It is found by those who are ready. It is much more than monetization… It is wealth in itself.
How to maintain sustainability and long-term growth of your personal brand?
I will answer this question with one word, which for me is the most important for long-term success – persistence.
What habits and discipline are needed to build authority?
The answer is hidden in the question itself. Discipline and good habits are at the core of creating anything.
As I like to remind – everything is rooted in the childhood of each of us. It is also important what our authorities were, whom we often imitate. If I have to go back in time – to my childhood – I would say that it was then that I received my most basic habits and tendencies that influence me to this day.
Namely – in the Children's Radio Choir, where Maestro Nedyalkov taught us love for music, strict discipline, and consistency in everything we do. And when we talk about talent – it can only be realized with a lot of hard work.
What three specific things can people do today to improve their personal brand?
It is difficult to generalize because every brand has its specificity. But I believe that if everyone follows the moral laws of life, they can be even more successful.
The time we live in is very fast-paced, and I think that regardless of the orientation of a given brand, if you always refer to classical music and use the pauses to enjoy the beautiful vibrations of the classics – you will certainly have a greater impact and success among your audience.
Don't forget – Music unites!
