Respect does not come from the title, but from the attitude

Learning is a journey, not a destination. Be brave, love your work, build authentic connections, and don't be afraid to start over!

Introduce yourself with a few words..

My name is Vanya Ananieva and I am the creator, driving force, and the heart behind “Intellect” – a company that has been building bridges between knowledge and people for over two decades. Within “Intellect” are language schools, a translation and legalization agency, social and educational initiatives, technological projects, and most importantly – a community of people who believe that knowledge should be an experience.

Professionally, I am an entrepreneur, educator, communicator. Personally, I am a wife, mother of two children, a person who believes that love for life is expressed most purely through actions.

Tell us what the philosophy and values of the company you represent at the moment are?

The philosophy of “Intellect” is simply formulated, but deeply experienced: “Learn with pleasure”. We believe that when knowledge is presented in an inspiring and human way, it not only gets memorized – it stays forever.

Our approach is based on humanity – we place the person at the center of learning, at the center of communication, at the center of business. Our values are:

  • Respect – for students, partners, colleagues, and for ourselves.
  • Development – we believe in continuous learning – from experience, from mistakes, from technologies, from people.
  • Courage – to be different, to experiment, to step out of the mold.
  • Meaning – everything we do carries a cause.
  • Teamwork – with the right team you can achieve everything. Literally everything.

How long have you been developing your current company? What are the most valuable lessons that the events of this period have taught you?

I have been developing “Intellect” since 2000 – for over two decades. The beginning was modest – a small room with a whiteboard and big dreams. But this room was full of enthusiasm and faith.

I have experienced economic crises, a pandemic, the dynamics of digital transformation. Each of these events forced me to look at business not as a structure, but as a living organism – with needs, growth, pains, and renewal. I learned to believe in people, to listen to my team, to be brave in unconventional solutions, and not to be afraid of mistakes. The most important lesson? That when you are true to yourself and your values – there is no storm you cannot weather.

If you personally had to write a job advertisement, how would you attract the attention of a future employee?

I would write: “We are looking for people with a soul. People who believe that knowledge can be presented beautifully, with ease and with a smile. If for you work is a cause, if you love foreign languages, people, communication, and want to wake up with a mission, not with an alarm clock – your place is at “Intellect”.“

We do not offer just a job – we offer the opportunity to be part of an idea that has a heart. And this is felt from the very first meeting.

What does your company do to organize a constructive and beneficial working environment for everyone? Should people in the team be friends?

At “Intellect” we value kindness and mutual respect. We strive not to be just colleagues – but people who care for each other. We organize regular team events – both professional and fun. From seminars and training to joint painting, escape games, picnics, charitable initiatives. This creates a sense of belonging.

Friendship is not mandatory, but humanity is. When there is understanding and empathy – friendships come naturally.

What makes you enjoy going to work? How do you cope with difficult and stressful moments?

I go to work with a smile because I believe I am doing something meaningful. In difficult moments, I remind myself why I started. I return to the root. It helps me to look at the situation not with panic, but with enthusiasm – as a challenge that is just waiting for a solution. I talk to my team, sometimes I paint, sometimes I isolate myself for an hour to find my inner center.

What work model does your company adhere to – office or remote? What do you think about the possibility of offering options for flexible working hours, within which employees have greater freedom to balance their personal and work commitments?

Most of the work in our company is done on-site – in person. We believe that live communication and physical presence create a stronger connection between people and contribute to building a cohesive team culture. However, when necessary, we also provide the option for remote work.

We maintain flexibility when the situation allows, because we know that trust and respect for personal time are the foundation for sustainable partnerships. Flexible working hours are an expression of mature leadership and a modern approach – they allow employees to successfully combine their professional and personal commitments, leading to better motivation and satisfaction.

How do the ongoing technological changes worldwide affect your business?

Technologies have opened new horizons for us. Online learning has become key, we created a platform for learning words – Word by Intellect. The pandemic accelerated this process and showed us that digital transformation is not a matter of choice, but of resilience.

I believe in balance – digitization should not displace the human element. We use technology as a tool, but we place connection, motivation, and personal approach at the center of everything.

How important is hierarchy and what does it mean to you? What kind of communication do you advocate in your company?

Hierarchy for me is needed only as a structure, but not as a barrier. In “Intellect” everyone is heard and everyone has a voice. I believe in open human communication. Respect does not come from the title, but from the attitude. The best ideas are not born in an office – but in conversations between people who respect each other and believe in each other.

What is your career advice for all the people who are building a strategy for their professional development?

Learning is a journey, not a destination. Be brave, love your work, build authentic connections, and do not be afraid to start over. Success is not a moment, but a feeling. And it starts from believing in yourself and acting with soul. Keep developing continuously. Learn new things. A profession is not just a source of income, it is the environment in which you spend your most active hours. Let them bring you joy, inspiration, and meaning.
