Introduce yourself in a few sentences..

My name is Chanita Belova and I have been an entrepreneur for 35 years. I am a proud mother of two wonderful daughters. I love my job and I admit that I might be a bit of a workaholic. I own a cosmetics distribution company, with one of the iconic brands, in the establishment of which I have been involved for over 30 years, being Golden Rose. This is one of the most successful and beloved projects in my career.

What did you dream of becoming in your childhood?

In my childhood, I dreamed of becoming an actress, a surgeon, a lawyer, but for the longest time, I dreamed of being a researcher specializing in chemistry. I was even on the verge of realizing that dream.

At what age did you earn your first money? Tell us an interesting story?

I earned my first money at around 10 years old. My parents taught us the value of hard work from a very young age. If my sister and I wanted something, our parents would involve us in work during the summer and then pay us so we could buy what we wanted. I remember wanting a pair of jeans when I was a child. Back then, jeans were not sold freely. We worked together with our parents, growing two acres of tomatoes. After we delivered the harvest, we bought the jeans we dreamed of. It was hard work, but we learned valuable lessons.

What are the main factors and examples that shape us as individuals at an early age and form our interests? What is your recipe for curiosity, sources and wells of information and inspiration at this stage of our human development?

My family taught me hard work through personal example. My parents worked a lot and I considered this a normal way of life. They taught me that if I want something, I have to achieve it myself. I have always been curious and interested in how things work, what the logic behind them is, and whether I could manage on my own. I read and observe successful people, telling myself that if they can, then I can too.

Has there been any significant change in your perceptions in more mature age regarding what motivates you to do or not do something?

My perceptions have not changed significantly with age. My main motivation has always been to prove to myself that I can. I realized early on that it is not necessary to compete with anyone else but myself and to strive every day to be better, even if just a little.

Whose decision was it where to pursue higher education and what to study? Was this decision correct, viewed from today’s perspective?

The decision to study chemistry was mine. I read many books and was impressed by the famous chemist Marie Curie, I really wanted to be like her. My secondary and higher education were focused on chemistry, which I loved very much. This was definitely the right decision. Later, I turned to cosmetics, where my chemistry knowledge is very useful.

I love to travel and read! It energizes me and helps me recharge my batteries.

Would you change your profession today and which fields of activity capture your interest?

Yes, I would venture in another direction, even now. I am interested in the real estate business.

They say that the personal brand is everything that people say about you when you are not with them in the same room. What would you like to hear today?

I would be happy to hear that I am a person whose word carries weight, that I do everything with love and enthusiasm, that I am honest and love people.

Emotional intelligence, adaptability, and flexibility, as well as our soft skills are key conditions for success in recent years. How do you cope with the daily challenges of life to stay in good shape and mood?

I always put myself in the other person's shoes, trying to understand the reasons for their actions. I do not judge, but focus on the virtues of people and the good moments. I choose to be happy and I want the people around me to be happy too.

What are the most important conclusions you have made so far about maintaining the right communication considering the different characters of the people you meet daily – colleagues, friends, relatives?

The most important thing in a person is their character. The character of a person is their destiny. We must accept people as they are, focusing on their strengths.

What do you think about money? What is their influence on your life? What is your advice to people who often ask themselves questions related to money and how sufficient they are?

Money is a means, it should not be an end in itself. For me, it has only been important to be able to provide a good education for my children and to travel. In hindsight, I realized that everything else is vanity and does not matter much in the long run.

What is the most valuable career advice you would give to people?

Never get stuck in one place. Strive to develop and learn constantly. Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone – this is the safest way to grow. Dream boldly, big! Salvation lurks everywhere.
