The most important thing is not to reach the destination, but the adventures you will experience along the way

A year has passed since I joined this fantastic team. Against the backdrop of my nearly 25 years of experience in the hotel industry, one year seems little, but it is actually enough for a professional to take stock of their time in the company!

Introduce yourself in a few sentences...
Hello! My name is Anna Potskova-Kinai and I am the Hotel Manager at Grand Hotel Millennium Sofia. My daily work is focused on several key operational units in the hotel structure, namely – Front Office, Housekeeping, Laundry, Spa and Wellness Center, Beauty Salon, and Security/Guarding.

How do you feel about your anniversary in the company and what does this stage mean to you?
A year has passed since I joined this fantastic team. Against the backdrop of my nearly 25 years of experience in the hotel industry, one year seems little, but it is actually enough time for a professional to take stock.
I have shared before that it is a pleasure for me to come to work every day and to interact with colleagues and guests. The philosophy of the organization is built on three main pillars – Love. Care. Share. This daily sharing of love and care is inspiring, valuable, and gives scope for work.
As a stage of my life, working in the hotel is an expected and purposefully sought challenge. The words of gratitude from guests and the trust from colleagues are the most essential elements of the puzzle that makes up the successful story of my adventure so far.

What are the most memorable moments or achievements from your time here so far?
Every hotel is a living organism – a dynamic structure where memorable moments constantly occur: from enchanted to dissatisfied guests, from poorly or wonderfully done work to in-depth conversations about life.
And yet, for me, the most important achievement on a personal level is that colleagues can rely on me at any moment and trust me – whether it is a professional issue or personal advice.

What motivates you to stay and develop in this organization?
I think it is clear – I love my job very much. I have gone through difficult moments, as well as many satisfying situations. In the end, I believe that dynamics motivate a lot, as well as the fact that this is an industry, created by people for people.
We tell stories – and that is enough for each of us to feel special.

How has your professional path changed from day one until now – and what has it taught you?
I have experienced many metamorphoses along my path so far... I have learned to be extremely patient and never to forget to appreciate the uniqueness of everyone around me. And, in a peculiar way – to love them.
A beautiful poem by Kavafis says that if you are going to travel to Ithaca, you should pray that your journey is as long as possible. Because the most important thing is not to reach the destination, but the adventures you will experience along the way.

What are your aspirations moving forward – both for yourself and for the team or company you are part of?
The best is yet to come...
