Introduce yourself in a few words..

My name is Tihomira Georgieva. I graduated in "Business Management" at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and "Management and Development of Human Resources" at New Bulgarian University.  I have lived more than 10 years abroad with my family, with the dream of returning and realizing myself in Bulgaria. Since 2021, I have been happily married, and I love to spend my free time with family, friends, on the road, or immersed in creative activities.

How would you describe your career in a few words?

I have nearly 15 years of professional experience in the field of Human Resources. I started my career in Human Resources as a summer intern at "Nestle Bulgaria" AD in 2010. Since 2018, I have been part of the regional team of the company for Europe, dealing with employer branding, recruitment, and talent attraction, and since the beginning of 2025, I became part of the global corporate team managing these activities of the company.

What was the most important choice that shaped your path?

The decision to return to Bulgaria, where I could continue my higher education after completing secondary education in Brussels, Belgium.

What would you like to know at the beginning of your career that no one told you?

Hard work and achievements are very important, but even more important are the leaders who appreciate them and give them the deserved recognition, support, and visibility.

How can a person understand which profession is suitable for him?

By having the courage to try until he reaches the profession that brings him true satisfaction.

Which skills do you think will be key in the next 10 years?

Skills for quick adaptation and learning in a constantly changing environment.

How to build a network of useful contacts without appearing interested?

Participating in conferences and webinars on topics that excite us professionally is very useful for building a wider network without requiring excessive interest.

What is the biggest mistake you have made in your career, and what did you learn from it?

I learned that being straightforward is a "double-edged sword." It is extremely important for a person to be authentic, but it is important to consider the consequences of his words/actions on others. It is important to choose the right way and moment to share his views so that for everyone involved the outcome is "I win – you win."

How to recognize a toxic work environment and when is it time to leave?

In a toxic work environment, quick and effective solutions are not sought, but reasons for shifting responsibility and "passing the buck." It is time to leave if we have exhausted all options to change the circumstances that are within our control.

What would you do differently if you could start over?

I would be careful with mixing personal and professional relationships.

How to maintain our motivation in times of stagnation?

By continuing to learn and build upon, through participation in current conferences, webinars, associations, certifications, etc. in our professional field.

How to achieve a balance between professional and personal life?

For each person, the recipe for balance is different. Mine is good planning, effective communication, and clear boundary definition. I believe that what we experience in our personal life can positively contribute to our professional successes, and vice versa.

When is it time to change our career, not just our job?

This is an individual feeling that I have not encountered, but I suppose that what would prompt a person to change their career is the lack of motivation, perspective, and inspiration that has accumulated over the years.

If you had to give just one piece of advice to people who are seeking success, what would it be?

Remember where you started and be grateful for the lessons and people you have met along the way.

What is your definition of a "successful career"?

A successful career is built on the foundations of good tone and example to the people we work with, on the successes we have contributed to, as well as on our perseverance. Difficulties should not scare us, because overcoming them makes us more successful, strong, and ready for new challenges. We must not forget where we started and who are the people who helped us on the path to success.
