The journey is a breath of fresh air – to yourself, to the world, and to new ideas

The world is full of inspiration, but you are the one who needs to turn it into action! Don't wait for the "perfect moment"!

Introduce yourself in a few words..
My name is Iva Ekimova and for over 30 years I have been developing my expertise in the field of public communications. My professional path includes commitments as a PR consultant, television host, strategist, university lecturer, and mentor. I believe in the power of words, personal example, and valuable content.

For you, the journey around the world is?
The journey is a breath of fresh air – to yourself, to the world, and to new ideas. It is a change of perspective, a restart of feelings, and inspiration that often turns into a new direction.

How many different countries have you seen so far? Share an interesting story or highlights from your travels?
I have visited over 20 countries, but each leaves a mark. I will never forget my trip to Wales at the invitation of, then, Prince Charles – the conversations about sustainability, culture, and values were enlightening and personal. One of those meetings that stay forever.

Do you like to repeat destinations? Give examples and motivation "for" or "against"?
Yes, I love it. Every place changes or I return different. Berlin, Prague, Paris, Vienna, London – each time I discover something new. Repeating is not stagnation, if you seek a new perspective.

What was your first trip that truly changed you as a professional and can be said to have changed your thinking?
Switzerland and my training at Villa Pierrefeu. I felt the culture of protocol and international ethics in action. This trip taught me that the detail makes the difference between good and exceptional communication.

What do you learn about yourself and your professional skills when you are in a new cultural environment?
I strive to listen more and assume less. In a different cultural environment, you toughen up, adapt, and become a more attentive communicator.

Have you met people or ideas during your travels that have influenced your career path?
Yes, and not just once. Sometimes a random conversation on a plane or at a seminar turns into a partnership, inspiration, or a new direction.

Do you think that traveling helps you expand your professional network? How?
Definitely. The informal environment often unlocks more authentic contacts. I have created some of my most valuable professional connections precisely during travels.

What skills do you develop the most when you travel, and how do they reflect on your work?
Adaptability, empathy, and cultural intelligence. This makes me a better communicator, leader, and presenter, especially in an international environment.

Is there a city or country that has inspired you to start a new business or project?
Yes – London. That’s where my idea for a podcast format with an international sound was born. The cosmopolitan environment unlocked in me the desire to think globally. It was there that I realized that the best way to contribute to the development of the field you work in is to share your knowledge. That’s why I started
PR Stars – become a PR for your personal and business brand. This is a module where I provide easy and effective tools for perfect communication, exercises to help better acquire skills, and meetings with professionals and media representatives that can become a supportive environment.

When you are in an unfamiliar country, do you feel more motivated or more distracted? Why?
More motivated. The new provokes in me the need to be more aware, more observant. This enhances my creativity.

Are there destinations that act as a "restart" for your creativity and ambition?
Absolutely. In Vienna, I return to myself. In Paris – to my dreams. And in Italy – to the passion for life.

How do you manage the balance between work and pleasure when you travel?
With clear discipline – first the priorities, then the pleasure. But I always try to give them space for each other – this makes work more joyful, and traveling more fulfilling.

How have travels changed the way you perceive the value of money?
I learned that the most valuable investments are in experiences and knowledge. Memories do not depreciate.

Do you travel with the aim of finding new ways to make money?
Sometimes yes – but not only in the literal sense. Travels connect me with new people, ideas, and opportunities that often grow into projects and partnerships.

What lessons about financial independence have you learned from different economies and cultures?
That independence does not mean isolation, but the opportunity for choice. And that minimalism can be a luxury.

Do you think it is better to spend on experiences rather than material possessions?
Always for experiences. They build personality, while things just surround it.

How do you see the future of digital nomadic life?
As a growing reality. You no longer need to be in one place to create value. But discipline and resilience are needed.

Are there specific countries that are more favorable for work and investments?
Yes – countries like Portugal, Estonia, and the Netherlands create conditions for digital entrepreneurs and freelancers. I am happy and proud that Bulgaria is now among the leading countries in this growing industry.

If you could choose one place in the world to develop your next big idea, what would it be and why?
Probably Barcelona – cultural, free, and inspiring. A place that combines emotion and efficiency.

What are the destinations you would definitely recommend to visit and why?
From those I have visited – Berlin, due to the impulse towards the new and the supportive environment, London, where many new and unexplored opportunities can be found. From the countries I have not been to, but would love to see - Japan – for its wisdom and rituals. Cuba – for the life in rhythm. New York – for the speed of ideas.

What is the career advice you would give based on what you have seen around the world?
Don't wait for the "perfect moment". The world is full of inspiration, but you are the one, who needs to turn it into action.
