The personal brand is our authentic imprint in the world

Without expertise, you have no content to establish yourself. However, without personality, the brand remains cold and soulless!
Introduce
yourself in a few words..
I am Ivelina Ruskova — an economist by education, but a person who does not stop searching and developing. Zodiac GEMINIAnd .
My
biggest passions and professions intertwine around Astrology, emotional intelligence,
coaching, and mediation. I am the chairperson
of the foundation "Dream for a Child" and co-chair of the Bulgarian-Turkish women's business
club.
I love to define myself as a dreamer — I believe in goodness, in light, and in the power of human dreams. My personal experiences, as well as my love for life, with all its ups and downs, lead me to help others find their path and strength.
How would you define a personal brand and why is it so important today?
The personal brand is our authentic imprint in the world – what people feel and remember when they think of us. It is more than professional achievements or a vision on social media – it is the truth about who you are, what you believe, and what you can give to others.
Today, when the world is so digital and connected, the personal brand is a way to be visible and to radiate meaning. It helps attract the right opportunities and people, but most importantly, it gives you inner confidence and clarity on your path.
How did you start building your personal brand? What motivates you?
My path was not straight and easy. Economics was not my calling, but emotional intelligence and astrology helped me discover myself. Astrology entered my life during my personal and very difficult journey with reproductive issues. That’s when I started seeking answers and meaning in this ancient science that combines knowledge and wisdom.
Then I began to study astrology more seriously, enrolled in the Moscow Academy with a branch in Sofia, and after several years of training, diplomas, and practice, astrology turned from a hobby into my profession and mission for 16 years, it has been part of my life.
At the same time, I have been dealing with emotional intelligence for several years - I was looking for answers on how to understand and manage my emotions, how to be a better person and professional. This, along with my personal story and my desire to help other women, like my story, created the foundation of my personal brand.
What are the most important elements of a successful personal brand?
First and foremost is authenticity — being your true self, with your strengths and weaknesses. People feel it when you are sincere. After that – consistency and working on yourself. The personal brand is not just an image, but daily actions, that speak for you and your values.
Also, emotional intelligence is very important – knowing how to communicate, understand others, and build trust. And of course, the ability to find your niche and show your unique value that sets you apart.
How do we find our niche and unique value?
This is a question that each of us must answer by listening to ourselves and our personal path. For me, the niche was born from my personal story and passion – reproductive issues and the desire to help other women, as well as my love for astrology. Working on your hobby is a unique luck and chance for me.
The unique value comes from our experience, from the way we filter the world through ourselves, and from how we can be useful to others. We must be patient, experiment, and be honest with ourselves until this manifests.
Should the personal brand be built around personality or around expertise?
In my opinion, the most successful personal brand is the synergy between the two – between personality and expertise. Without expertise, you have no content to establish yourself. However, without personality, the brand remains cold and soulless.
I always strive to be authentic, to show my emotions, vulnerabilities, and essence while sharing knowledge and experience. This creates trust and a deeper connection with people.
What first steps would you recommend to someone who is just starting?
The first and most important thing is to get to know yourself – what you love, what drives you, what you can give to the world. After that – start sharing your story and experience little by little, without being afraid of criticism.
I recommend that we continuously learn, seek mentors, and experiment with different formats and platforms. And let’s not forget – consistency and authenticity are key.
What platforms are most suitable for developing a personal brand today?
Depending on the goals and audience – social networks like LinkedIn and Instagram are very good for professional presence and communication.
Also, blogs, YouTube, and podcasts are powerful tools if you want to share more in-depth content.
For me, it is important to choose a platform where you feel comfortable and can be yourself. I love and am a fan of Facebook.
What role does authenticity play in the personal brand and how do we maintain it?
Authenticity is the soul of the personal brand. Without it, everything sounds false and distant. To be authentic means to accept yourself with all your light and dark sides and to not be afraid to show them.
I maintain it by always returning to my personal story, to the reasons why I do what I do. When I am real and honest, people feel it and respond to me with the same.
How do we create content that engages and builds trust?
Content must be personal, honest, and useful. To tell stories from your life, that people can feel and relate to.
It is also important to listen to your audience, to answer questions, and to create a dialogue. This builds connection and trust.
Do not rush to sell, but first give value.
What are the most common mistakes people make when building a personal brand?
The most common mistakes are trying to copy someone, not being authentic, waiting for quick results, and not being consistent.
Another problem is that many people are afraid of criticism and negative opinions, which stops them from being themselves.
How do we deal with negative comments and criticism?
There will always be criticism, but it is important to distinguish constructive criticism from negativism.
I view criticism as an opportunity to grow, to improve, and to get to know myself better. I try not to take negative comments personally, but to focus on the people who support and appreciate me.
How do we avoid burnout when investing a lot of effort in our personal brand?
Balance is key. I have my rituals – in the morning I give thanks for life, for my loved ones, for the opportunities I have. This energizes me and brings me peace.
It is important to take time for rest, for family, and for the things we love. If we lose this harmony, everything feels heavy – both in the soul and in the body.
And I can speak from personal experience a lot, because I experienced it and lost the balance in my life.
How can a strong personal brand lead to more opportunities (jobs, partnerships, clients)?
When the personal brand is strong, authentic, and resilient, it creates trust. And trust is the foundation of any partnership – professional or personal. People connect not just with what you offer, but with who you are.
My path as the creator of the "Dream for a Child" foundation, astrologer, is indicative – opportunities came, not because I actively sought them, but because people recognized in me authenticity, mission, and the desire to give. A good personal brand does not "sell"; it attracts. And it attracts exactly those with whom we resonate on the same frequency.
What are the best ways to monetize a personal brand?
Monetization comes naturally when you first give value. I have always believed that when you share your knowledge, when you help, when you show up with your heart, people feel that value and want to work with you. A natural process.
The best ways to monetize include, in my opinion:
- Consultations and coaching – sharing experience and
expertise in an individual format.
- Online programs or courses – creating value for more people at once.
Books, podcasts, lectures – channels through which you reach a wide audience and establish your expertise.
Business collaborations and partnerships that are in sync with your values and vision.
Monetization should be a natural continuation of your mission, not an end in itself.
When is the right time to start offering paid services or products?
When you have already given enough value for free, when you have built trust, and when you know that what you offer truly transforms the lives of others.
For me, that moment came when people started seeking me out on their own – for advice, for support, for knowledge. That was the signal that I was ready. We do not need to wait until we are "perfect", but we must be prepared, honest, and genuine.
How do we maintain resilience and long-term growth of the personal brand?
Resilience comes from a deep "why" – from what lies behind everything you do. If your personal brand is not just a strategy, but a mission and meaning – it will withstand the test of time.
For me, this is a daily care – for the soul, for energy, for my development. I continue to learn, connect with people, work on myself, and share. It is also important to have clear goals, adaptability, and to remaintrueto yourself.
What habits and discipline are needed to build authority?
Consistency – not only in words but also in actions.
Self-reflection – honesty with yourself and others
Sharing – even when it is difficult, even when you doubt. To share not only successes, but also lessons in life.
Care for the body, mind, and spirit – my morning rituals, prayer, gratitude, time for silence – this is my foundation.
Openness to the new – not to close myself in the comfort zone, but to develop continuously.
Which personalities with a successful personal brand inspire you and why?
One of the women who left a lasting imprint in my mind and heart early in my professional path at 23 years old is Inga Krukalskine – a lady from Lithuania, whom I met during my experience with multi-level marketing.
She was the first person who showed me that I could be a strong, confident, independent woman and that dreams are achievable. She was my first mentor, my role model, and inspiration. Not with noise, but with consistency, discipline, and finesse she built her influence – just as I believe a personal brand should be built with feminine strength and energy.
What three specific things can people do today to improve their personal brand?
1. To write their story – openly and with love.
What
has brought them here, what they have overcome, what inspires them. The story is
the strongest tool of the personal brand.
2. To show themselves as they are – without masks.
In
a world full of filters, authenticity stands out the most. Not to be afraid to
be emotional, to share values, fears, hopes.
3. To give value – immediately.
Whether
they write a useful post, respond to someone in need, make a video,
or simply inspire – let today be the day they start to be
visible.
