How would you describe your career in a few words
32 years ago, I accidentally ended up in one of the first private radios in Bulgaria – Kanal KOM in Plovdiv. Soon I started writing not only news but also advertising texts. I went through the position of copywriter and creative director in a large advertising agency 24 years ago, and for 17 years I have been a co-founder of one of the largest independent communication groups in Bulgaria – The Smarts Group. In literature, I started in 1998 with my first book, and then for more than twenty years I learned to write (without publishing) to be better at it. Now I already have four books behind me.

What was the most important choice that shaped your path
To engage in something that no one could teach me. When I started in advertising, there was no previous generation in this field in Bulgaria.

What would you like to know at the beginning of your career that no one told you
That I would have to change constantly. In fact, this is one of the reasons I still find it interesting.

How can a person understand which profession is suitable for him
When he goes to work with desire and his colleagues are among his closest people.

Which skills do you think will be key in the next 10 years
Adaptability and rebelliousness.

How to build a network of useful contacts without appearing interested
Useful contacts should have a two-way effect – that’s why we need to have something to give when we want to receive something.

What is the biggest mistake you made in your career, and what did you learn from it
To forget my mistakes. I try not to do that.

When we feel that the ceiling is on our head.

What would you do differently if you could start over
Probably everything, and who knows what would have happened. I really trust my intuition and quick decisions in life.

How to maintain our motivation in times of stagnation
To seek variety, to demand it from our profession – that is the most important thing.

How to achieve a balance between professional and personal life
None. I do not believe in the forced search for this balance. A person should give as much as he can and while he has the energy for it.

When is it time to change our career, not just the job
When we become boring to ourselves.

If you had to give only one piece of advice to people looking for success, what would it be
Do not dream of becoming successful, but successful people. Success is not a final destination.

What is your definition of a "successful career"
To be able to afford to do what you love.
