AI: Closer or further is the Bulgarian to it by 2025?

AI: Closer or further is the Bulgarian to it by 2025?

Artificial intelligence is no longer the future – it is the present. From chatbots and automation to medical diagnostics and financial analysis – AI is present in our daily lives, often without us even realizing it. But the question for Bulgaria by 2025 is: how close is the Bulgarian to these technologies and how far remains at a distance?

1. Business is increasingly open to AI
In recent years, a number of Bulgarian companies have started to implement AI solutions – for customer service, data analysis, process optimization. The financial sector and IT industry are leading, but now even small businesses are finding meaning in automation. This brings the Bulgarian closer to artificial intelligence through the services they use every day.

2. Education is taking first steps
In universities, there are already specialized programs in artificial intelligence and machine learning, but the number of trained specialists remains insufficient. In schools, the topic will only start to enter more actively, and extracurricular initiatives and courses are proving to be key. The question is whether Bulgaria will manage to retain these young talents with us.

3. Society is curious, but also skeptical
Many associate AI with dangers – from job loss to “robots that will govern people.” At the same time, however, chatbots like ChatGPT and various automation applications are already finding a place in the daily work of students, teachers, entrepreneurs. The Bulgarian is approaching AI through its practical benefits, rather than through strategic understanding.

4. The state is still lagging behind
Although there are documents and strategies, the real implementation of AI in the public sector is slow. E-government and digital services are the foundation, but the path to the use of intelligent algorithms in administration is long.

By 2025, the Bulgarian is simultaneously closer and further to artificial intelligence. Closer – because they already use products and services based on AI daily. Further – because there is a lack of mass literacy, state policies, and sufficient specialists. The big challenge for Bulgaria is not just to adopt technologies, but to use them consciously and to turn artificial intelligence into a driver for better quality of life and a competitive economy.
