Tourism is a sector with great potential, but also with challenges

I want to contribute to us not just being among the agencies, but one of the leading ones, with an innovative approach in marketing and sales!

New position: Marketing and Sales Manager

Company: Ara Tur

Introduce yourself in a few sentences and briefly highlight your career development so far?

I am Plamen Marinov — a professional with experience in marketing and sales, specialized in the tourism sector. Over the years, I have worked on projects involving the development of marketing strategies, digital campaigns, building and managing teams, reaching and retaining customers through various channels. I have experience with market analysis, budget optimization, and successfully implementing initiatives that have led to sustainable growth in revenue and a better brand position.

What motivates you to take on this new role and what are your main goals for the position?

My motivation comes from the opportunity to combine strategic and operational — to set a direction, but also to actively participate in its execution. Tourism is a sector with great potential, but also with challenges — dynamics, seasonality, competitive pressure, changes in consumer behavior, digitalization. I want to contribute to us not just being among the agencies, but one of the leading ones, with an innovative approach in marketing and sales.

My main goals for the position:
Development and implementation of a marketing strategy that leads to increased brand awareness, but also real sales.

Optimizing and diversifying sales channels

Improving the customer experience and relationship with clients

Improving the efficiency of expenses

Creating and developing a strong marketing and sales team — people, methods, processes, technologies.

What professional or personal qualities do you think will help you succeed in your new position?

Leadership and team management skills
, including motivating and developing people.
Analytical and results-oriented — tracking key indicators, data analysis, adjustments as needed.
Creativity and innovation — in today's marketing, it is important to think outside the box, to use new channels and approaches.
Communication skills and the ability to work with different stakeholders — partners, suppliers, clients, internal teams.

What challenges do you expect to face and how do you approach change management?

Expected challenges:
·  Seasonality of sales and fluctuations in demand — some periods are active, others are quieter.

·  Competition — both from other tourism agencies and from online platforms, self-booking, unconventional offerings.

·  Budget or resource constraints for marketing and advertising.

·  Rapid changes in customer behavior and technologies — new channels, expectations for digital experiences, need for personalization.

·  Organizational resistance — people, processes, habits that may have been established and will need to change.

Approach to change management:
·  Analysis and diagnosis — to understand the current state: strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

·  Communication and inclusion — involving the team, partners, to understand “why” change is necessary and what the benefits are.

·  Gradual implementation — pilot projects or phases, to test and adjust.

·  Training and support — to provide the necessary tools, training, resources for the people who will implement the change.

What is your approach to teamwork and building a strong internal culture?

My approach is that a strong team and a positive internal culture are the foundation for sustainable success. I believe that:

  • Every team member should feel that their contribution is valued — recognition, honest feedback, opportunities for development.
  • Communication should be open, with clear sharing of goals, tasks, and expectations.
  • I encourage collaboration between departments — marketing, sales, customer service, logistics, etc.

·       Focus on customers (employees are also customers within the organization) — satisfaction, trust, support.

·       Continuous improvement — ongoing efforts for optimization, adaptation, innovation.

What would you like people to say about you in the company after a few months?

I would like people to say that:

·       I have brought clear attention to effectiveness and quality — the campaigns are more effective, resources are used more intelligently.

·       I have created a team that works cohesively, energetically, and with confidence in themselves and their goals.

·       Clients feel that the agency is modern, innovative, reliable — both in marketing and in the quality of the products and services offered.

·       Strong communication and transparency — people inside the company know why decisions are made, what is planned, and feel part of the process.
