We all have a mission, a calling, and something we are passionate about

We must accept people as they are, not try to change them!
Introduce yourself in a few sentences..
Megi Dimcheva, author and host of the
project "The Wonders Within Us", a spectacle therapy that combines themes of personal and
spiritual development with Bulgarian music and inspiring guests. For 20
years, I was the host of the show "Searching", in the last 17 years of its
television history on bTV.
What did you dream of becoming in your childhood?
I have always wanted to work in
media, and television was my dream, which I pursued throughout my
conscious life as a student until I reached it in its best
form.
At what age did you earn your first money? Tell us
about an interesting incident?
I was a first-year student at
Shumen University "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski" when I was invited to
be the host of the student program on the local municipal television "Shumen".
After that, the director of the television invited me to the news team, where I was
a reporter and host of the News. I was hired and that’s how I started to
earn my own money.
What are the main factors and examples that shape us
as individuals at an early age and form our interests? What is your
recipe for curiosity, sources, and wells of information and inspiration in
this stage of our human development?
First and foremost, family. At
this stage of my life, I consider the most incredible gift from life to be the fact that
my parents did not project their own dreams onto me, but allowed me to
fulfill my own. When a person walks their own path, which is
unique to each of us, there is no way to go wrong in choosing a profession,
even though there are serious challenges along the way. The right
recipe for me is to do what energizes you, makes you happy, and
motivates you to grow. Only when you are in the right place are these factors
present.
Has there been any significant change in your perceptions
in a more mature age regarding what motivates you to do or not do something?
I have always known that my place is in the media, in television, where I have the opportunity to talk to interesting and inspiring personalities. I have always had an incredible curiosity about people and their personal life stories. I assure you that behind the most successful personalities in this world lie their own dramas, lack of confidence, and doubts. What fascinates me is how these people cope with all of this and how these challenges change them, not completely break them, and do not erase their faith. That’s why it was an exceptional privilege for me to host a show like "Searching" on national television.
Whose decision was it where to pursue higher education and
what to study? Was this decision correct, viewed from today’s perspective?
I have always loved to write,
to create. Literature and the Bulgarian language have always been much more attractive
to me as a person. I wanted, of course, to study Journalism. Since I was not
accepted at Sofia University for this specialty, I decided to study at the university in Shumen
"Bulgarian Philology". I cried many nights that I didn’t succeed in Sofia because
my desire to be in the capital was very strong. But today, from the distance of
years, I see that my path was not random and that this was the way to
get here. Working in the News was not my place, and I realized that back in
Shumen. I came with the inner conviction that I wanted to do a talk show and I was moving in that
direction. After 4 years, I fulfilled my dream for national air. There is nothing
random in any event, nor any meeting in our lives. I truly believe in
this.
Share more about your interests, knowledge, skills, and
hobbies?
I love to travel. I love
traveling very much. I love walks in nature. The books that inspire me and show me
the way forward. I can write, speak, and lead interesting conversations in
which people share many personal things. And in recent years, I have come to love
my time with myself. I learned this the hardest way.
Would you change your profession today and which fields of
activity capture your interest?
From a television host, today I am
an author, host, and producer of an inspiring event that has not been an end in itself,
but a series of circumstances that had to happen on my path. I would not
run away from myself. I have had offers for editor, host, screenwriter, PR, etc.
But what truly excites me is the live conversation with people, from which I can
extract the best, both from the person themselves and for the people to whom it is
addressed. Through "The Wonders Within Us", I have the incredible opportunity to meet
many people, my audience live. For me, this is an incredible emotion,
which at this stage I would not trade for anything else.
They say that the personal brand is everything that people say
about you when you are not in the same room with them. What would you like to hear
today?
That I touch the soul and heart with
what I do. That I spread love and connect people through it! This for
me would be the greatest gift.
Emotional intelligence, adaptability, and flexibility,
as well as our soft skills, are key conditions for success in the last
few years. How do you cope with the daily challenges of life to
stay in good shape and mood?
Mastering your emotions is extremely important, both in the personal world and in the profession. After all the trainings, meetings, and books I have read, I now have a model established to move through life without emotions being able to influence me in moments where they could hinder me. I believe that every conscious and intelligent person should know the basics of emotional intelligence. I personally cope with a lot of patience, humility, and acceptance of circumstances. Sometimes it’s hard, but for me, the important thing is not to let myself sink for long in the negative shades of emotions, because this hinders us from assessing the situation correctly and moving forward.
What are the most important conclusions you have made so far about
maintaining proper communication considering the different characters of the people
you meet daily – colleagues,
friends, relatives?
The main conclusion is that we must accept people as they are, not try to change them. Change can only come through personal example and good motivation. When the person across does not recognize it, it cannot happen. Thus, we only risk worsening our relationships. When you are confident in what you do, the right people always come to you. I believe that everyone has something to give me and vice versa. I am not a teacher to anyone; I live in a way that opposes me as a person and connect with people from the same blood type.
What do you think about money? What is their influence on
your life? What is your advice to people who often ask themselves questions
related to money and how sufficient they are?
Money is a means of living. They
reflect the value that we ourselves give to other people. With proper
planning, they can always be sufficient. When you think they are not, they
will never come to you because you think not through the prism of abundance, but
through lack, scarcity. I am not focused on them, especially since for a year and a half
I have had to manage my own company for the first time,
and when I started, I had no idea how to do that. Today I am doing well and
learning the basics for developing a small business. Nevertheless, creativity is
my element, not finances.
What is the most valuable career advice you would give to
people?
To follow themselves. This
means trying to work, to do what they are best at, which is their calling. We all have a mission,
a calling, and something we are passionate about. Even at the moment when we are at the right workplace, we should try to incorporate into our work elements of what we do with ease. There is always a way to make it so
that we love what we work on. And if it doesn’t work out, we should not be afraid to
follow our dreams.
