Who Uses ChatGPT Today: Age, Gender, and Global Trends

The young lead, but they are not alone: who is behind the growth of ChatGPT!

Who and how uses ChatGPT today - what the data shows

In just a few years, ChatGPT has transformed from a technological experiment into a widely used tool for work, learning, and career development. Today, the platform has hundreds of millions of active users worldwide, and its demographic data provides a clear picture of how attitudes towards artificial intelligence - and who actually integrates it into their daily lives.

Global Reach: AI Without Borders

In terms of geographical distribution, the largest share of ChatGPT users comes from the United States (17.2 percent of traffic to the platform), followed by India (8.27%), Brazil (5.7%), Japan (3.7%), Germany (3.39%), and the United Kingdom (4.3%). It is important to note that these percentages reflect the share of global traffic, not the share of the population of the respective countries.

This distribution shows something key – the use of AI tools is no longer concentrated only in Western Europe and North America. On the contrary, emerging markets, especially India and Brazil, play an increasingly significant role, indicating a global leveling of access to digital skills and technologies.

Gender: The Gap is Closing

Initial analyses of ChatGPT usage showed a predominance of men, which is typical for the early stages of new technologies. However, data from 2025 outlines a different picture – the gap between men and women is significantly narrowing, and in some analyses, women even form a slight majority among active users.

This is a strong indicator that AI tools are no longer perceived as “technical” or “niche,” but as a universal assistant – for communication, learning, career planning, and daily work.

Age: A Tool for Young Professionals

The most active users of ChatGPT are people between 18 and 34 years old, who make up more than half of all users. This includes students, young professionals, and people in the early stages of their career development.

Following them are the age groups between 35 and 44 years - active professionals and leaders who increasingly use AI for work optimization, decision-making, and team development. Although with a smaller share, ChatGPT is also used among people over 45 years old, indicating a gradual expansion of the age profile.

What This Means for Careers and the Labor Market

The data clearly shows that ChatGPT and similar AI tools are now part of the real work environment. Young people are the quickest to adopt them, but the trend is for their integration to become increasingly widespread and interdisciplinary.

For employers, this means new expectations for the digital skills of employees. For professionals – that the ability to work with AI is no longer a competitive advantage, but is gradually becoming a basic competency. And for career media – that the topic of artificial intelligence is no longer “the future,” but the present.
