Randomly by plan, but without compromise and fear of failure

The career and life choices of a person who is not afraid to experiment and take responsibility!

Introduce yourself in a few sentences!

Well.....Hello, I am Dimitar Pavlov, 48 years old from Sofia. :)

What did you dream of becoming in your childhood?

I don't have a clear memory of anything specific, I suppose, like every child who grew up in the 80s, I wanted to become a garbage collector, because of the incredible things that could be found in the bins and not only :)) I think I also wanted to become a truck driver, an actor, and probably a partisan at some earlier stage. But there was never anything specific and strong. Generally, the fashion of “what I want to become” changed often.

At what age did you earn your first money? Tell us an interesting story?

I don't remember exactly. Maybe I was around 12 or 13 years old. I went with another friend to wash the windows of the cars waiting for gas at a gas station on “Vaptsarov”. Why exactly this gas station, considering it is quite far from us, I don't have a clear memory, but actually, these are the first earned money through honest work, without counting the money from the spoiling of grandmothers and grandfathers. Later, I sold bread in a 24-hour shop, ice cream, I worked in construction, as a bartender, waiter, and so on.

What are the main factors and examples that shape us as individuals at an earlier age and form our interests? What is your recipe for curiosity, sources and wells of information and inspiration at this stage of our human development?

I have no idea :)))) Probably family, environment, general culture, level of some life experience as sparse as it may be at an early age. Interests are formed in step. Probably again directed and modeled somewhat in the family, environment, and friends. I have no recipe for curiosity, I have no recipe for anything except probably for an antibiotic, but it expired long ago because I haven't taken antibiotics for surely over 20 years. Information can now be drawn from everywhere, which makes us lazy, but it is convenient. But it is becoming increasingly difficult for a person to understand what is true and what is not.

Has there been any significant difference in your perceptions in a more mature age about what motivates you to do or not do something?

Well, yes, of course. Life experience speaks for itself. I no longer make compromises. Or at least they are minimized. I don't work with idiots, which I allowed before. I don't work with people who have no minimum knowledge to get the job done, and there are plenty of those here. I simply do not make compromises. Not anymore. Motivation is a complex thing, especially when you do one thing for 20 and over 20 years. As it is with me. But I have thought that I don't know anything else but to work with myself. I haven't even tried, though. Maybe, as a start, it would be nice to work on, not with myself :)))

Whose decision was it where to pursue higher education and what to study? Was this decision correct, looking at it from today’s perspective?

The decision was mine. In this regard, “my parents” never interfered, and they had no particular chance because I passed with a shaving flight over my secondary education. Let's say that after the ninth grade I had completely different interests than attending classes and school :)) and quite reasonably graduated with a diploma of 4.30, which limited the ideas for applying to a higher institution :)) The only universities where the diploma did not count as a grading factor were the Academy of Fine Arts, the Academy of Music, the Academy of Sports, and the Academy of Theater. And since I didn't fit in the first three of them, I decided to become an actor. And I applied to NATFIZ. And they accepted me, but not as an actor, which I still consider to be the most correct thing and thank God I didn't think of transferring to an acting class. But I could have :)) So, everything happened to me somewhat jokingly and without much effort.

Share with us more about your interests, knowledge, skills, and hobbies?

It’s nice for someone who is outside of me to talk about my skills. Generally, my skills are visible and audible. That's my job. Otherwise, I love to travel, ride a bike, I’m not convinced that I shine with any knowledge above average, but I don't try to outdo myself either, because I have embarrassed myself :)))

Would you change your profession today and which fields of activity capture your interest?

No. I wouldn't. The bad thing is that in Bulgaria it is poorly paid or let’s not say it’s that bad, but quite below what would be fair for such public professions.

They say that the personal brand is everything that people say about you when you are not with them in the same room. What would you like to hear today?

That I am a good person.

Emotional intelligence, adaptability, and flexibility, as well as our soft skills are key conditions for success in the last few years. How do you cope with the daily challenges of life to stay in good shape and mood?

I have no recipe for that. I think everyone goes through different moods daily. And I maintain my condition with meetings with people. That makes me sensitive. Maybe also the fact that I get up early for 25 years helps too. I can't imagine how people live who sleep until noon, for example. Wasted time. But they can't explain to me how I motivate myself to get up every day at 06:30, even on Saturday and Sunday. Habit.

What are the most important conclusions you have made so far about maintaining the right communication considering the different characters of the people you meet daily – colleagues, friends, relatives?

To be sincere and direct. Unfortunately, I have not learned to be delicate and diplomatic, something that would have helped me a lot and would have made communication much easier. :) But that’s the situation. You shouldn't impose yourself on people, something I do often :)) or at least I try to the end :))

What do you think about money? What is their influence on your life? What is your advice to people who often ask themselves questions related to money and how sufficient they are?

Money for me is the freedom to do what I want without thinking about tomorrow. Generally, that’s it. I can live with little, I can live with a lot. I have learned to do both. Thank God I haven't had to think about how to cope because I haven't been left at zero. There is work. There has always been and will be. The question is whether you will make compromises and how far you are willing to go with that compromise. I have the luck to make my money doing something that entertains me. Or at least it’s not unpleasant for me, but just routine :))

What is the most valuable career advice you would give to people?

To try different things when they feel stuck. And not to be afraid that something will go wrong. It’s normal for it to happen, but it’s an experience that cannot be gained if you stay in front of the monitor and blame yourself for missing this or that. I have also missed many things and have beaten myself up for it, but looking through the prism of years, it turns out that it doesn’t matter at all.
