· Asen Stanimirov - Secret Spa

How to create a boutique SPA center that sells tranquility, not just a service!
Asen Stanimirov is an entrepreneur with over 12 years of experience in the fields of services, logistics, and business process management. His professional journey began in 2013 when he started his first business with limited resources but with a clear vision, discipline, and a willingness to work hard. Today, he manages several successful offices in partnership with Econt in Sofia, built through consistent growth, strong teams, and a sustainable development model. In parallel, he is the founder of Secret SPA - a boutique relaxation center in Sofia, created as a space for tranquility, personal attention, and recovery in the dynamic urban environment. The project's concept focuses on quality experiences, attention to detail, and a sense of balance in everyday life. In addition to his core activities, Asen Stanimirov shows an active interest in new business opportunities and participates in various entrepreneurial projects. For him, development is a natural process, and good entrepreneurial intuition is the ability to recognize potential where others see only an idea.

How did the idea for Secret SPA come about, and when did you decide that Sofia needed such a space for relaxation and recovery?
The idea for Secret SPA naturally arose from observing the way modern people live. In a big city like Sofia, everyday life is dynamic, busy, and often filled with constant stress, while time for true relaxation takes a back seat. At one point, it became clear that people needed not just a service but a place where they could disconnect from the pace of the day and restore their balance. That’s when the idea to create a space that offers tranquility, personal attention, and quality experiences emerged.
What inspired you in creating the concept - are there places in the world, experiences, or relaxation philosophies from which you drew ideas?
The inspiration came from various wellness culture concepts in Europe, where relaxation and self-care are seen as necessities rather than luxuries. At the same time, it was important for us not to copy an existing model but to create a place with its own character. Therefore, we combined good international practices with a sense of coziness, discretion, and personal attention, which we consider particularly valuable in an urban environment like Sofia.
What was your initial vision for Secret SPA, and how did you envision this place before it became a reality?
From the very beginning, the vision was clear - Secret SPA should be a boutique space where every guest feels special and at peace. We wanted to create a place that stands out not for its scale but for its attention to detail – atmosphere, service, a sense of privacy, and comfort. We imagined an environment where a person enters burdened and leaves with a feeling of lightness and rejuvenation.
What was the journey like from idea to realization, and what were the biggest challenges at the beginning?
Like any new project, the journey from idea to realization involved many decisions, organization, and persistence. The biggest challenge was achieving a balance between high standards, a good concept, and the real market expectations. In the beginning, every detail mattered – choosing a location, designing the interior, selecting a team, and creating a comprehensive customer experience. This process required the most energy but also laid the foundation for future development.
How has Secret SPA evolved from its launch to now, and what has changed in the concept or services during this time?
Since its launch, Secret SPA has developed gradually and sustainably. Initially, the focus was on building trust and recognition, and over time we began to enhance services according to customer needs. The concept remained the same – personal attention, tranquility, and quality. What has changed is a better understanding of guest expectations and the desire to continuously improve the experience.
What type of people most often choose Secret SPA – individual guests, couples, friend groups, or corporate teams?
We have a diverse clientele, which indicates the need for such a space. We have individual guests seeking personal time for recovery, couples wanting a shared experience, as well as friend groups for special occasions. Increasingly, we also work with corporate clients who recognize the importance of good balance and team care.
What feedback do you receive from visitors, and what is the most common thing people share after their experience with you?
The most valuable feedback is when people say they were able to truly relax and forget about everyday stress. We often hear that the atmosphere, discretion, and attention make the experience different. For us, this is important because it shows that people are not just looking for a service but a sense of care and tranquility.
Secret SPA is also used for personal and corporate events. How does this contribute to the atmosphere and community around the place?
This adds extra life to the space. When people choose the place for a personal occasion or corporate event, it means they perceive it not just as a SPA center but as an environment with character and value. Such events create a sense of community and trust, and for us, this is a natural development of the concept.
What are your expectations for the development of Secret SPA in the near future?
Our expectations are related to sustainable growth and enhancing quality. It is important for us that development is natural and aligned with the real needs of customers. We prefer stable expansion over rapid growth because, in the service sector, trust is paramount.
How do you envision the next step - expanding the concept, new services, or new spaces?
The next step could be a combination of several directions - new services, additional experiences, and opportunities for developing the concept itself. I plan to develop Secret SPA into a successful chain built on high service standards and uncompromising customer experience. Based on the accumulated experience and lessons learned, I will establish a recognizable quality model that becomes a benchmark for the industry. When an idea has a solid foundation, it can evolve in various forms. The most important thing is that each subsequent step maintains the identity and quality on which the project is built.
What is your personal philosophy on relaxation and balance in modern urban life?
It may sound commercial, but I believe that relaxation is not a luxury but a necessity. In the dynamic everyday life, people often postpone self-care until they feel exhausted. True balance comes when a person consciously takes time for recovery - physically and mentally. When this becomes a habit, the quality of life changes significantly.
