2025: The Year AI Started Signing Layoff Orders

Artificial intelligence took the floor — and the job, swallowing the corporate world!

🧩 The New Reality of Labor

2025 will go down in history as the year when artificial intelligence stopped being just a “tool” and started to restructure entire companies.
After the wave of automation and integration of AI solutions, hundreds of thousands of employees worldwide lost their jobs, and large corporations publicly acknowledged: “we work more efficiently with fewer people”.

⚙️ Technologies Replace Departments, Not Just Positions

In just the first nine months of 2025, over 100,000 jobs in the tech sector were cut. Companies justify the decision with the need to “redirect resources” towards artificial intelligence, automation, and cloud solutions.
AI is already taking on a significant portion of tasks in customer service, analytics, maintenance, and even project management.

💼 The Giants That Hit the “Reset” Button

Amazon

The tech giant cut about 14,000 corporate positions – about 4% of its administrative workforce. According to the company, this is part of a strategy for a “more flexible structure” that aims to direct investments towards robotics, automation, and AI.

Microsoft

Redmond released approximately 9,000 employees (about 3–4% of the staff). The official explanation: the need to redirect resources towards AI and cloud services – sectors that form the new core of the business.

Intel

One of the most drastic cuts – 24,000 people, almost 20% of the global workforce. The company is betting everything on chip production and AI platforms, which requires “restructuring from the inside out”.

Salesforce

With about 4,000 jobs cut, Salesforce acknowledged that automated AI agents are already successfully handling part of customer interactions – a function that until recently required human intervention.

Autodesk

The 3D design software manufacturer laid off 1,350 employees, with the goal of investing in cloud platforms and AI integrations, which will “accelerate the future of design”.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)

The largest IT employer in India cut nearly 20,000 positions, after automating processes in support and back-office operations.

📉 Not Just Numbers, But a New Model of Work

While some see this as an economic tragedy, others argue that a new type of economy is being born — one in which artificial intelligence not only assists but manages processes.

Traditional departments like human resources, support, and administrative management are shrinking, while new roles – AI engineers, model operators, ethics specialists, and data management experts – are gaining momentum.

🔮 What’s Next?

The question is no longer whether artificial intelligence will replace part of the workforce, but which people will remain irreplaceable.
Companies want “fewer, but more valuable” employees – those who can work alongside algorithms, not against them.

2025 could prove to be a turning point – the beginning of the era of AI-driven economy, where flexibility, speed, and technological literacy will determine who survives and who falls away.
